Cool continuous lighting is great for video lighting or product photography.
We keep the cool daylight corrected fluro & LED lighting, these are low power consumption and won't overheat your subjects.
NB: Halogen & other hot video lights are not daylight colour so should not be mixed with these lights.
We now offer a 3 light kit : this gives you a main light, fill light and hair light so is well suited to lighting most scenes for video and can also be used for stills.
If you also need the backdrop lit we have kits with more lights. If shooting chromakey (blue or green screen) or high key (white backdrop) you WILL need more lights for high quality results.
Here is our 5 light kit - the 2 extra lights are used "crossed over" to light the backdrop. There is also a boom included to allow best positioning of the hair / rim light.
Chromakey green / blue or white backdrop sold separately
Continuous lights ARE NOT compatible with conventional softboxes - the sizing is very different. We sell specific softboxes with a built in globe holder, these are a pop up style so are easy to set up and pack away small and produce a lovely soft light. The globes should be unscrewed before folding the softboxes down.
We also have multi light heads which offer more light and control over power. The globes are individually switched in the multi lamp units allowing you a choice of power settings.
Chromakey is great fun, but to allow your software to work well the backdrop itself must be lit independently from the subjects so that the backdrop is a nice bright green or blue. If only the subject is lit the backdrop is inevitably a lot further from the lights than the subject so appears dark.
White backdrops also need to be lit or they will come out a murky grey - in fact the only colour that does not benefit dramatically from its own lighting is black!
Our backdrop stands are a useful 3m wide and 2.75m high, big enough for standing interviews or portraits, yet they fold into a 1m long padded bag for transport
As these continuous lights are large and fragile we do not recommend using light stands smaller than the 1.9m units as the shorter stands have a much smaller footprint and are not sufficiently stable.
Continuous lighting is just bright enough for still portraits with a good camera (typical settings 1/125th at f2.8 on ISO200 - check your camera is capable of this). We recommend the 5 light heads or flash instead if you will be doing more than the occasional portrait.
While the globes are well packed before postage breakage in the mail is NOT covered unless you pay for registered post. The globes should always be screwed in holding the base NOT by the glass.
