The V6 triggers allow remote power control of most speedlight flashes in 4 groups

The V6 II adds high speed sync HSS support. There is a special V6 IIs version for the new style Sony cameras and flashes with a Sony type hotshoes.

The Cactus RF60X flash has BUILT IN V6 / V6 II transceivers (master & slave) so you won't need V6 units for those. However it can be handy to have a V6 master unit if you prefer not having a flash on camera.

Typical setup for a photographer who has two 580ex flashes but wants to add two more flashes :

3x V6 units
- One V6 II as master on camera
- Two V6 II used as receivers for the 580EX flashes allowing remote power control & high speed sync

Two RF60X flashes
- The RF60X can be used remotely via their built in V6 compatible radio system

The on camera V6 unit allows controlling each flash independently as it supports 4 groups. In fact one more flash could be used on top of the V6 on camera and controlled independently of groups A,B,C & D. This could be a 580ex on a V6 II (in Auto or manual mode - V6s support TTL pass through on camera) or an RF60X which acts as both flash and master (no V6 needed)

Optional extra : allows remote camera triggering

- One additional V6 II unit (4 in total for this example)
- One Cactus shutter cable

This allows the camera and all four flashes to be triggered remotely by pressing the trigger button on the hand held V6. A 1/2 press enables focus, while fully pressing the button takes the photo. The V6s auto relay feature allows the on camera unit to act as both a receiver (to activate the camera's shutter) and transmitter for the flashes

Handheld V6 - TX, relay mode
On camera V6 - RX, relay mode
All other units set as usual (relay OFF)

The shooter could also add in Nikon or Micro 4/3 system HSS flashes via another V6 II. Other flashes are supported, but at standard sync speeds only.
